Its not the distributor, My engine is fuel injected. I was using the wrong terminology. Its the ignition coil that is currently missing a bolt. Now using the correct terminology, how screwed would I be if I drove it for a couple days?
Drive my truck with 1 out of 2 bolts holding my distributer in? I just tried to replace my temp sender (which I falsly believed to be under the distributer) so I took it off and it got too dark to see what I was doing so I only got one bolt back in. I have stuff to do tomorrow, could I drive around with only one bolt in until this weekend?

I dont know. how do you like your timing being so off that it
A: doesnt fire at all
B: fires at the wrong point and if its before top dead center, potentially fuck up your entire drive treain
or C: breaks the distributor and then you have to buy a new one?
if you answered yes to any of the above, go for it.

I can tell you've never bought a sketchy car off craigslist...haha
If the timing is set ok and it doesn't feel all wiggly, i'd say it's fine for a day. If you're super worried you could just put it on in the morning though

for future reference you should think about getting a Might D Light if your going to wrenching after dark
they're brighter than the god damn sun

I'm pretty sure an advanced spark won't "fuck up the entire drive train". Timing is always set BTDC.
A loose distributor will likely retard, not advance anyway. Pretty basic stuff.

the distributer is connected. It's just not 100% anchored down. It's just only half secured

ok, so its just as fine to run aorund with my wheels only 1/2 secured? GREAT
this has got to be one of your dumber ideas TBH with you.

I have one. Love it. The magnets are great.

It's much easier to put it back when you're at home instead of doing it on the side of the road.

Rule no. 1 man. Besides, a bolt anchoring the distributor is a bit different than a load bearing component.

I wouldn't. While it may be fine, Ford didn't just put that second bolt there for shits and giggles, and it's not like a bolt is that hard to put in. As a general rule of thumb, never drive an unfinished job.

when said component is LITERALLY the life spark of your motor, IDK, seems pretty vital to me.
also, this was not be being a dick. me being a dick would have involved more colorfull language and a couple of gifs

Your truck isn't "mechanically" fuel injected.
You're missing a coil pack bolt. It's fine for a while. Find it or replace it as soon as you can.

I have the bolt, but I cant see enough tonight to put it back in. Also, I wont have time to put it back in until Saturday at the earliest

Man, Im getting terminology wrong all over the place tonight. Its MultiPort Injected. Thats what MFI Means. I'll update the main post

It should be fine. Ford's EEC system can be fussy but not that fussy.

Based on what you have pictured, that is a coil. Your 'distributor' is electronic. It should not matter if the coil is secured with any more that one bolt. It is grounded and if it does not shake badly, it will be OK til you can secure it better.

Does it run? Check.
It's ok until you get it done correctly. Those things usually have locator flanges/pins/whatever.
